Euro area inflation estimated at 2.1% in August

02/09/2025 (Agence Europe)Euro area annual inflation is estimated at 2.1% in August, up from 2.0% in July according to a flash estimate from the Statistical Office of the European Union (Eurostat) on Tuesday 2 September. The highest rates were recorded in Estonia (6.2%), Croatia (4.6%) and Slovakia (4.4%), while the lowest rates were observed in Cyprus (-0.1%), France (0.8%) and Italy (1.7%). The rise in prices was weak in Italy (1.7%), moderate in Germany (2.1%) and strong in Spain (2.7%). Looking at the main components of euro area inflation, food, alcohol & tobacco is expected to record the highest annual rate in August (3.2%, compared with 3.3% in July), followed by services (3.1%, compared with 3.2% in July), industrial goods excluding energy (0.8%, stable compared with July) and energy (-1.9%, compared with -2.4% in July).
