Volodymyr Zelensky proposes new law on anti-corruption bodies to ensure their independence

25/07/2025 (Agence Europe)Faced with concerns, particularly from European leaders (see EUROPE 13686/14), about the law passed on anti-corruption bodies, which placed them under the authority of the Prosecutor General, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced on Thursday 24 July that he had approved a new bill to restore the independence of these two bodies. This new text will have to be voted on by the Verkhovna Rada. “It is important that we respect the position of all Ukrainians and that we are grateful to all those who support Ukraine”, explained Mr Zelensky on social networks. The two anti-corruption bodies were involved in drafting the new bill, and proposals had been made to involve experts from the UK, Germany and the EU, according to Mr Zelensky. (CG)
