18/07/2025 (Agence Europe) – On Friday 18 July, the EU Council adopted the “omnibus” regulation, which postpones certain obligations of the batteries regulation. This new text, also known as ‘Stop the Clock’, postpones by two years the entry into force of the obligation for battery producers to report on their due diligence (see EUROPE 13645/2). The aim of these reporting tasks is to ensure that battery production and waste do not have a negative impact on the environment. The obligation was due to come into force in August 2025, but will be postponed until August 2027. In addition, producers will no longer be required to publish annual reports on their compliance with the regulation every year, but every three years. See the text adopted: https://aeur.eu/f/hxl (LM)
