18/07/2025 (Agence Europe) – The European Commissioner for Energy, Dan Jørgensen, visited Athens on Thursday 17 July to mark the 20th anniversary of the Energy Community, which brings together the EU and nine neighbouring countries to accelerate the integration of the European energy market. During his participation at the Informal Ministerial Council, the Commissioner said that the Community had “brought the EU closer to its neighbours”. “Now is the time to look to our shared future, based on a greener, more sustainable and resilient system that will deliver cheaper energy”. The event was co-organised by the Greek Ministry of the Environment and Energy. Mr Jørgensen therefore held talks with the Greek Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, and other government figures to push forward the EU’s energy and housing programme, and to address Greece’s concerns about high energy prices (see EUROPE 13482/16).
