European ministers approve extension and revision of gas storage regulation

18/07/2025 (Agence Europe) – European ministers, meeting in the General Affairs Council on Friday 18 July, gave the green light to the revision and two-year extension of the regulation on gas storage, following approval by Member States’ ambassadors to the EU (Coreper) on 16 July (see EUROPE B13682A34). Only Hungary voted against, and Slovakia abstained, due to references to the ‘REPowerEU’ ‘roadmap’ for a phase-out of Russian fossil fuel imports by the end of 2027. The...
