18/07/2025 (Agence Europe) – On Friday 18 July, the Council of the EU adopted restrictive measures against the Alkhaleej Bank, which “plays an essential role in financing Rapid Support Forces (RSF) operations” in Sudan, and against the Red Rock Mining Company, which, according to the EU, is a “source of financing for the armed groups at the root of the Sudanese conflict, in particular the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF)”. Sanctions were also imposed on the military commander of the SAF, Abu Aqla Mohamed Kaikal, and the military commander of the RSF, Hussein Barsham. Sanctioned persons and entities are subject to an asset freeze, and it is forbidden to provide them, directly or indirectly, with funds or economic resources.
