10/06/2025 (Agence Europe) – EU leaders expressed their dismay on Tuesday 10 June after a former pupil opened fire killing nine people in a school in Graz, Austria, that morning. “My thoughts are with the victims, their families and friends. Schools are symbols of youth, hope and the future. It is hard to bear when schools become places of death and violence”, said the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen. “I am horrified by the news of the school shooting in Graz. A senseless act of violence in a place where children should feel safe and protected”, reacted the President of the European Council, António Costa. “The terrible news from Graz has touched us deeply. Our condolences go out to the victims and their families”, said Austrian Commissioner Magnus Brunner. (SP)
