10/06/2025 (Agence Europe) – From 9 to 12 June, the European Commissioner for Agriculture and Food, Christophe Hansen, is on a mission to Japan, in Tokyo and Osaka, to strengthen the agricultural partnership between the EU and Japan, support EU agri-food exports and represent the EU at the Osaka World Expo 2025. This visit comes at a time when Japan remains the EU’s fifth-largest market for agri-food exports, worth €8.3 billion in 2024, thanks in particular to the EU-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement in force since 2019. A delegation of companies is accompanying the mission (103 participants from 22 EU countries representing a wide range of agri-food sectors). In Tokyo, the Commissioner will meet Yoichi Watanabe, Deputy Minister for International Affairs, Shinjiro Koizumi, Minister for Agriculture, and Hirofumi Takinami, Minister of State for Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries. In Osaka, he will hold talks with the ambassadors of the EU Member States. (LC)
