28/05/25 (Agence Europe) – A working paper issued by the EU Council to national delegations, on Friday 23 May, states that European energy ministers will hold an exchange of views on the REPowerEU roadmap at the Energy Council on 16 June (see EUROPE 13634/1). The legislative proposals arising from this communication from the European Commission to put an end to Russian fossil fuel imports could potentially be unveiled at the beginning of June, according to one source. This would allow ministers to discuss these concrete measures for the first time at the Council. As planned by the Polish Presidency of the EU Council, the approval of the conclusions on energy security (see other news) is included in this provisional agenda. The future Danish Presidency will also inform ministers of its work programme. In addition, a working lunch will be devoted to “electricity market development”.
