02/05/2025 (Agence Europe) – As previously announced by the European Commission, the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity (ENTSO-E) is setting up a group of experts to investigate the causes of the major blackout on the Iberian peninsula on 28 April (see EUROPE 13630/3). The panel is chaired by experts recognised by Transmission System Operators (TSOs) who were not directly affected by or involved in the blackout, and is made up of the TSOs involved as well as other European experts. The group will be asked to produce a full analysis and provide recommendations in a final report. Prior to this, ENTSO-E will publish a full report with technical details of the incident within six months and provide regular updates to the Commission, Member States and the Electricity Coordination Group. At the same time, the Spanish authorities will have to submit an assessment report within three months. For more details, please visit https://aeur.eu/f/gn1 (PLD)
