20/03/2025 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 18 March, MEPs on the European Parliament Environment Committee adopted the provisional agreement on the revision of the framework directive on food and textile waste, with 70 votes in favour, 4 against and 9 abstentions. The compromise still has to be formally adopted at the European Parliament plenary session and by the ministers at EU Council level. The two institutions reached a provisional agreement in interinstitutional negotiations on 19 February (see EUROPE 13583/4). The aim of this revision is to reduce food and textile waste by 2030 and to involve textile manufacturers in the fight against waste. (FS)
