12/02/2025 (Agence Europe) – Markus Ritter’s mandate as head of the European Union Mission in Armenia (EUMA) has been extended for the period from 20 February 2025 to 19 February 2026, according to a legal act published in the Official Journal of the European Union on Wednesday 12 February. The German has held this position since 24 January 2023 (see EUROPE 13107/31). On 30 January, the EUMA mission was extended for a further two years, until 19 February 2027 (see EUROPE 13569/33). The mission is tasked with observing and reporting on the situation on the ground, contributing to human security in the areas affected by the conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia, and-supporting the building of confidence between the two parties.
