12/02/2025 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 12 February, the European Commission decided to appoint Frenchman Pierre Bascou to the post of Deputy Director-General at the Directorate-General for Agriculture and Rural Development (DG AGRI), where he will be responsible for markets and international relations. Mr Bascou has 30 years of experience at the European Commission in the agricultural field. Mr Bascou has been acting as Deputy Director-General of DG AGRI for the last two years. He was previously Director for three different directorates within the same DG, in charge of markets, income support and sustainability. Before joining the European Commission in 1992, Mr Bascou acquired a sound knowledge of economics, statistics and agriculture, working for leading consultancy firms throughout Europe. (LC)
