Belén Martinez Carbonell, next secretary general for EEAS

23/01/2025 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 22 January, the European External Action Service announced the appointment by EU High Representative Kaja Kallas of the Spaniard Belén Martinez Carbonell as secretary general of the EEAS. She will take up her post on 1 February, replacing the Italian Stefano Sannino, who has held the position since 2020.
