15/01/2025 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 15 January, the spokesman for the European External Action Service “deeply” regretted and rejected the Venezuelan authorities’ decision to drastically reduce the number of accredited diplomatic staff from France, the Netherlands and Italy. The previous day, Venezuela had decided to limit the number of diplomats authorised to remain in the country to three per country, due to the “hostile” conduct of these three Member States. “The EU urges the immediate reversal of this unilateral and unacceptable action, which only serves to deepen Venezuela’s international isolation and undermines bilateral relations with the EU and its Member States”, warned the spokesman, underlining the EU’s full solidarity with these three Member States.
