Revision of Package Travel Directive – Italy abstains due to lack of legal clarity and proportionality

19/12/2024 (Agence Europe) – Italy abstained from voting on the EU Council agreement on the revised Package Travel Directive on Wednesday 18 December (see EUROPE B13548A23) due to the lack of legal clarity and proportionality. According to our information, Italy shares the aims of the directive, but believes that greater clarity would help to avoid a proliferation of legal disputes between players in the sector.
