On Thursday 19 December, the European Commission announced the opening of a series of anti-dumping investigations into Chinese, South Korean and Taiwanese products. A set of provisional duties could therefore be published in the coming months, by July 2025 at the latest.
Two investigations concern Chinese products: - candles and other similar products, in the case of the first; - Chinese valine, in the case of the second. Valine is an a-amino acid used as a dietary supplement.
The third anti-dumping investigation concerns imports of acrylonitrile-butadene-styrene resins originating from South Korea and Taiwan. It is a thermoplastic polymer used in many sectors.
In addition, the Commission has launched a safeguard investigation into imports of certain manganese and silicon-based alloying elements. Several Member States are behind the request for an investigation, which the Commission considers justified in the light of the evidence presented.
