11/12/2024 (Agence Europe) – On 3 December, at the 5th EU-Kuwait Human Rights Dialogue, the European Union welcomed Kuwait’s progress in various areas of human rights, “in particular women’s empowerment”, explained the European External Action Service in a press release on Tuesday 10 December. At the meeting, the EU encouraged Kuwait to continue to align itself more closely with international human rights law, in particular the Rule of law and civil and political rights, including freedom of expression, assembly and association, and to accelerate the process of ratifying the main international human rights covenants. The parties also reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining an open and constructive dialogue and exchanging best practices on human rights issues. They agreed to step up their cooperation, including with regard to the advancement of women’s rights. (CG)
