11/12/2024 (Agence Europe) – In a policy paper published on Wednesday 11 December, Bioenergy Europe set out its views on the role that bioenergy will play in the “Clean Industrial Deal”, due to be presented by the European Commission on 26 February. The organisation believes that bioenergy has a role to play in decarbonising industry, promoting European competitiveness, energy security and carbon neutrality. “Given Europe’s technology dependence on China, the EU should take advantage of its pioneering bioenergy technologies and envision an ambitious exports strategy all over the world”, said Jean-Marc Jossart, Secretary General of Bioenergy Europe. The organisation is calling for sustainable bioenergy to be a cornerstone of the Commission’s new plan, by supporting this source of energy “approximately 2.4 times cheaper than other renewable alternatives”.
