28/11/24 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 27 November, Reporters Without Borders (RSF) recalled that the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, had pledged in July to guarantee a “reliable information framework”, to “support a free press” and to “combat disinformation and foreign interference”. In particular, RSF calls on the Commission to speed up implementation of the Digital Services Act (DSA) and the European Media Freedom Act (EMFA). The fight against the spread of disinformation and the protection of journalists and independent media are at stake. The NGO is also calling on the Commission to impose on platforms “an obligation to amplify reliable sources of information”, and wants the EU to set up a system to protect its information space and support the media and journalists in exile.
