26/11/2024 (Agence Europe) – The 19 ‘Very Large Online Platforms’ (VLOPs) and Search Engines (VLOSEs), designated in April 2023 under the Digital Services Act (DSA), must now publish their first annual risk assessment and audit reports, the European Commission announced on Tuesday 26 November. These reports must contain an assessment of the risks associated with their services (illegal content, disinformation, protection of minors) and detail the measures put in place to mitigate them. The publication of these reports marks a step towards “a new era of transparency and accountability, helping to protect users and society”, according to the Commission. Workshops are planned for 2025 to present these assessments to stakeholders, including national coordinators and civil society. (IS)
