26/11/2024 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 26 November, the European Commission announced that it had appointed three new directors, who will take up their posts on 1 December, and a new deputy director for its Directorates-General. Portugal’s Ana Carla Pereira is to become Director of Equality and Non-Discrimination at the Directorate-General for Justice and Consumers (DG JUST). Barbara Bonvissuto, an Italian national, will become Director for ‘Ecosystems III: Construction, Machinery and Standardisation’ within the Directorate-General for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs (DG GROW). In addition, Stina Soewarta (Danish) will take up the post of Director for General Affairs at the Directorate-General for Competition (DG COMP). Finally, Irishman Anthony Whelan will become, at a date yet to be determined, Deputy Director-General for State Aid Policy at DG COMP. (CG)
