26/11/2024 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 26 November, the European Parliament approved by 581 votes to 34, with 31 abstentions, the appointment of Iliana Ivanova to the post of Member of the European Court of Auditors for Bulgaria. The current European Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth was a member of the Court from 2013 to 2023. The post of Bulgarian member of the Court became vacant in September 2023, when Ms Ivanova was appointed European Commissioner. On 4 September 2024, the Bulgarian Council of Ministers appointed her to return to the European Court of Auditors for the period 2025-2030. Ms Ivanova’s appointment still has to be approved by the EU Council. (CG)
