08/11/2024 (Agence Europe) – On Friday 8 November, the EU Council adopted a decision extending the mandate of the EU Military Assistance Mission in support of Ukraine (EUMAM Ukraine) for a further two years, until 15 November 2026. The aim of the mission is to help strengthen the military capabilities of the Ukrainian armed forces. The aim is to have trained 75,000 soldiers by the end of the year (see EUROPE 13472/1). In accordance with the EU Council’s decision, EUMAM Ukraine will cooperate with NATO, in particular with its Security Training and Assistance Programme for Ukraine (NSATU), and will “exchange information with the Alliance in a transparent, reciprocal and inclusive manner”, the EU Council said in a press release. A budget allocation of almost €409 million for the period from 14 November 2024 to 15 November 2026 was also approved by the EU Council. (CG)
