09/10/2024 (Agence Europe) – In a joint statement on Tuesday 8 October, the EU delegation and the diplomatic missions of the EU Member States, Norway, Switzerland and the United Kingdom in Singapore deplored the execution of Singaporean citizen Mohammad Azwan bin Bohari on Friday 4 October. He was convicted of drug trafficking in 2019. His execution was carried out while his appeal was pending before the Supreme Court. The signatories oppose the use of capital punishment “in all cases and in all circumstances” and call on Singapore to adopt a moratorium on all executions, “as a positive first step towards the abolition of the death penalty”.
