09/10/24 (Agence Europe) – The European Federation of Investors and Users of Financial Services, Better Finance, called, on Monday 7 October, for stronger investor protection mechanisms, following a report published by ‘BrokerChooser’ a Maltese team of experts specialising in comparing financial service providers. The report reveals a significant rise in online investment scams and currently lists 67 not-recommended entities in Europe, generating 1.3 million search impressions on Google. Scams mainly focus on high-risk products, including cryptocurrency trading. Better Finance is calling on regulators, tech companies and financial institutions to act quickly to protect investors. Recommendations include the inclusion of regulatory warnings in search engine results and strict monitoring of digital advertising to detect fraudulent promotions.
