Solid progress has been made in implementing the ticketing roadmap in all critical areas, according to the Community of European Railways and Infrastructure Companies (CER) in its fourth progress report, published on Monday 7 October.
The Open Sales and Distribution Model (‘OSDM’) has been implemented in Sweden. This is the first nationwide multi-party implementation of the new technical tool for exchanging sales and distribution data between rail carriers and train ticket distributors. The ‘OSDM’ model should considerably simplify and improve the booking process for public transport customers and reduce the complexity and distribution costs for retailers, distributors and transport operators.
The CER reiterates its request to the European Commission to integrate the ‘OSDM’ model into the Technical Specification for Interoperability, Telematics Applications regulation. “This revision should not be finalised without ensuring that ongoing sector investments are protected”, emphasised CER Executive Director Alberto Mazzola.
