09/10/2024 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 9 October, the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, announced the six candidates who had collected enough signatures from MEPs to officially stand for the post of European Ombudsman (see EUROPE 13492/7). They are Teresa Anjinho (Portuguese), Emilio De Capitani and Marino Fardelli (both Italian), Julia Laffranque (Latvian), Claudia Mahler (Austrian) and Reinier van Zutphen (Dutch). The public hearings of the candidates will take place on Tuesday 3 December, with a view to their election at the December plenary session. (MB)
