European Parliament approves €1 billion in aid following natural disasters

08/10/2024 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 8 October, the European Parliament approved (632 votes in favour, 7 against and 3 abstentions) the mobilisation of more than €1 billion in aid from the ‘European Union Solidarity Fund’ for five EU countries following the severe flooding in 2023 (see EUROPE B13469A1). For Italy, €378.8 million is earmarked for the Emilia-Romagna region and €67.8 million for the Tuscany region. The remainder of the aid is distributed as follows:...
