The European Union played a leading role at the 46th annual meeting of the Northwest Atlantic Fisheries Organisation (NAFO), held in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, from 23 to 27 September. The moratorium on cod fishing in the North (including Newfoundland and Labrador) has been lifted.
