Prokopios Charitos, new commander of EunavforMed Irini force

01/10/2024 (Agence Europe) – Greek Commodore Prokopios Charitos is to become Force Commander of the EU’s CSDP operation EunavforMed Irini on Friday 4 October, according to a legal document seen by Agence Europe. He will succeed Italian Rear Admiral Armando Paolo Simi, in post since 5 April 2024. The aim of Operation Irini, whose mandate runs until 31 March 2025, is to enforce the United Nations embargo on the transport of arms to Libya.(CG)
