18/09/24 (Agence Europe) – The five finalists for the LUX Audience Award 2025 were announced on Wednesday 18 September at the European Parliament in Strasbourg by its Vice-President, Sabine Verheyen (EPP, German), and the Chair of the European Parliament Committee on Culture and Education, Nela Riehl (Greens/EFA, German). Animal by Sofia Exarchou (Greece), Dahomey by Mati Diop (France), Flow by Gints Zilbalodis (Latvia), Intercepted by Oksana Karpovych (Canada/Ukraine) and Julie Keeps Quiet by Leonardo van Dijl (Belgium) were shortlisted for their ability to tackle societal issues such as poverty, mental health, climate change, gender equality and LGBT rights. EU citizens and MEPs will vote for the winner, which will be announced in April 2025. Between now and then, free screenings and debates will be held in all 27 Member States. (NP)
