EU extends sanctions against individuals and entities threatening Ukraine’s territorial integrity for a further six months

13/09/2024 (Agence Europe)The Council of the EU has decided to extend the restrictive measures targeting the individuals and entities responsible for violating or threatening the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine by six months until 15 March 2025, according to a legal act published in the Official Journal of the European Union on Friday 13 September. These sanctions apply to more than 1,800 individuals and nearly 500 entities, many of which are being targeted in response to Russia’s aggression against Ukraine. The sanctions include travel restrictions for natural persons, the freezing of assets and a ban on making funds or other economic resources available to listed individuals and entities. As part of the sanctions review, the EU has decided to remove five deceased individuals, two other individuals and one duplicate from the sanctions list. (CG)
