On Friday 13 September, the High Representative of the Union announced eight senior appointments within the European External Action Service (EEAS) and two ambassadorial appointments.
Estonian Matti Maasikas will become Managing Director for Europe on 1 November. For his part, Frenchman Olivier Bailly will take up the position of Managing Director for Global on 1 January 2025. His compatriot Mathieu Briens has been Deputy Managing Director for Africa since 1 September.
Audrone Perkauskiene from Lithuania became Deputy Managing Director for Eastern Europe and Russia on 16 July.
Since 1 September, Croatian Daniel Markić has been Director for the Intelligence and Situation Centre (INTCEN) and Raffaella Iodice has been Director for the Crisis Response Centre.
Elsa Fenet has been Director for Budget and Human Resources since 1 May.
Joanna Krzeminska-Vamvaka, a Polish national, will take up her post as Director of Security and Corporate Services on 16 September.
Last but not least, Spain’s Immaculada Roca I Cortes became EU ambassador to The Gambia on 1 September and Belgium’s Roland Kobia took over as the EU ambassador to Madagascar on the same date. (Original version in French by Camille-Cerise Gessant)
