04/07/24 (Agence Europe) – Following the previous day’s signing of Canada’s association agreement with Horizon Europe Pillar II (see EUROPE 13445/4), on Thursday 4 July, the European Commission provided Agence Europe with the annual breakdown of Canada’s contribution to the EU’s framework programme for research until the end of the current multiannual financial framework period. In 2024, this contribution will amount to €16.1 million, in 2025 to €21.4 million, in 2026 to €26.8 million and finally in 2027 to €32.1 million, for a total of €96.4 million. Canadian research entities will be able to participate in Horizon Europe Pillar II calls for projects, form consortia and join Horizon Europe‘s governance structures as observers. This participation also opens up opportunities for researchers from countries already participating in the framework programme who wish to collaborate with Canadian entities. (EV)
