The subject of multiple complaints within the EU for misleading practices, particularly in relation to its price display system, the Vinted platform has stated that it has finally modified the latter to bring it into line with EU legislation.
On Tuesday 18 June, the European Commission announced that the online platform for second-hand sales had made a number of changes to its application and website relating to actual total prices, advertising and the refund process.
The institution criticised Vinted for automatically adding a compulsory fee to purchases at check-out, so-called ‘buyer protection’, which was not included in the advertised price.
To a lesser extent, the platform also had to modify its review policy and provide more detailed information on its procedure for reviewing counterfeits and verifying the identity of its users.
This decision follows a lengthy dialogue initiated in 2021 between Vinted and the Consumer Protection Cooperation (CPC) Network, coordinated by the Commission and led by the Lithuanian State Consumer Rights Protection Authority. (Original version in French by Isalia Stieffatre)
