In a joint letter sent to the European Commission on Wednesday 5 June, more than 200 stakeholders in the geothermal sector value chain called for the preparation of a European strategy and action plan for geothermal energy as a major source of renewable heating, cooling and electricity.
The signatories also highlight advantages such as the low cost of energy storage and more sustainable extraction of lithium and other resources.
