European Commission proposes to extend steel safeguard until 2026

05/06/2024 (Agence Europe) – The steel safeguard measure introduced by the EU in 2019 and extended in 2021 expires at the beginning of July 2024. According to two European sources, the European Commission has proposed to the Member States that it be extended by 2 years. Chinese overcapacity continues to put pressure on EU industry, according to the results of the investigation launched in February. The extension should be announced a few days before 1 July.
