On Thursday 16 May, the European Commission published a new EU Mission Adaptation to Climate Change Activity Report on the progress and priorities in tackling climate change ahead of the third Mission Forum on Adaptation to Climate Change, to be held on 23 May.
This report focuses on the activities of this EU Mission to support regional and local authorities in preparing for the consequences of climate change.
The document includes data, examples and results of collective efforts to adopt smarter adaptation strategies and design innovative projects that strengthen community resilience.
It also recognises the challenges ahead and the need for the Mission to prioritise innovation, collaboration and the exchange of knowledge.
The Mission aims to support at least 150 European regions and communities by 2030 and to develop concrete solutions through 75 large-scale resilience demonstrations in several European regions, with a focus on cross-border cooperation.
To this end, the European Commission has earmarked a budget of €124 million for this Mission on Adaptation, within the 2023-2024 Work Programme of Horizon Europe, the EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation.
Various calls within the Mission framework are open until 28 September.
