EU welcomes adoption of restrictions on use of fish aggregating devices for Indian Ocean tuna

On Friday 17 May, the EU welcomed the important decisions taken this week in Bangkok, Thailand, at the 28th annual meeting of the Indian Ocean Tuna Commission (IOTC).

11 new conservation and management measures have been adopted, the European Commission has announced, including some on the controversial subject of the management of fish aggregating devices (FADs), a raft (assembly of floating objects) extended underwater by nets (see EUROPE B13182A11).
