07/05/2024 (Agence Europe) – Ahead of the meeting of European research ministers on 23 May, the Member States’ ambassadors to the European Union (Coreper) are expected to confirm on Wednesday 8 May the agreement reached in the working group on a draft recommendation on the safety of research. Based on a proposal from the European Commission, which had as its framework a legislative package on economic security (see EUROPE 13335/4), the draft recommendation includes a series of principles and actions to be implemented by the Member States and the Commission to support research organisations in identifying and managing research security risks while protecting academic freedom. Two agreements concerning draft conclusions on European framework programmes and the exploitation of research results should also be confirmed (see EUROPE 13405/12).
