€90 million from EU budget to boost urban innovation

To strengthen sustainable urban development in EU cities, the European Commission announced on Monday 6 May that it had launched a third call for proposals worth €90 million under the European Urban Initiative (EUI).

The projects selected under this call for proposals will test innovative solutions in cities to help them achieve the green and digital transitions.

Projects must focus on one of the following two priorities: energy transition and technology in cities (to improve public services, urban governance, quality of life and citizen involvement). The European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) will co-finance 80% of project costs, with each project receiving up to €5 million. The remaining 20% will be covered by local authorities and project partners. Interested representatives of EU cities are invited to consult the website (https://aeur.eu/f/c3x ) to find out more about the application procedure.

The deadline for submitting proposals is 14 October 2024. (Original version in French by Lionel Changeur)
