07/05/24 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 7 May, the European Commission announced that it was closing its investigation, opened in August 2023, into the possible circumvention of its anti-dumping duties on Indonesian biodiesel. The European Biodiesel Board, which represents European producers of this product, had lodged a request for an investigation with the Commission because it suspected that Indonesian biodiesel was reaching the EU without tariffs via China and the UK. However, it withdrew its complaint on 19 January 2024. In such cases, the Commission can close its investigation, and this is what it has decided to do. In addition, an anti-dumping investigation was opened in December 2023 targeting Chinese biodiesel, also at the request of the European Biodiesel Board (see EUROPE 13318/28).
