25/04/24 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 25 April, MEPs approved the provisional agreement on the Net-Zero Industry Act (NZIA) by a large majority: 361 votes in favour, 121 against and 45 abstentions. The NZIA “is our first step towards restoring European industrial competitiveness and finally creating a business case for industrial decarbonisation in Europe”, said the text’s rapporteur in Parliament, Christian Ehler (EPP, German). The Council still has to approve the text, probably at the end of May, before it can enter into force. (LM)
