Brussels, 26/03/2024 (Agence Europe) – In a press release issued on Thursday 21 March, Willie Walsh, Director General of the International Air Transport Association (IATA), described the revision of the Single European Sky (SES 2+) framework as a “failure”. This text was the subject of an agreement between the European Parliament and the Council of the EU after two and a half years of discussions, an agreement validated by the Council on Friday 22 March (see EUROPE 13378/34). “It’s a grubby deal that sells out to narrow national interests and creates a few useless jobs for bureaucrats supported by the European political elite”, Walsh said. “Meanwhile, travellers, the environment and airlines must prepare to pay with delays, higher costs and unnecessary emissions”, he lamented.
