26/03/2024 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 26 March, the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) launched a consultation on draft regulatory technical standards for the registration and supervision of external reviewers under the EU Green Bond Regulation (EuGB) (see EUROPE 13341/9). ESMA’s proposals aim to clarify the criteria used to assess an application for registration of an external reviewer. It also aims to standardise registration requirements and contribute to the development of a level playing field by reducing entry costs for applicants. The EuGB regulation came into force last December and will apply from this 21 December. ESMA will take into account the comments received during this consultation, which is open until June, and will submit the draft RTS to the European Commission by 21 December 2024.
