Start of European Parliament/EU Council negotiations on transfer of criminal proceedings between Member States

Negotiations between the European Parliament and the EU Council began on Thursday 8 February on the proposal for a regulation on the transfer of criminal proceedings between Member States.

This text, presented by the Commission on 5 April 2023 (see EUROPE B13157A12), responds to a pressing need for simplification in order to effectively combat cross-border crime, which is seeing a significant increase in the number of cases involving several Member States.
