MEPs question Commission on precariousness, ageing and difficulties of recruiting teachers

At their plenary session on Thursday 8 February, MEPs debated oral questions tabled by Jana Toom (Renew Europe, Estonia) on behalf of the Committee on Petitions regarding teachers’ working conditions in the EU. Ms Toom opened the discussion by highlighting the ageing of the profession, recruitment difficulties and precarious working conditions.

Questions included an assessment of current working conditions, the impact on the quality of education, the European Commission’s strategies...
