Product safety, European Commission consults public on Safety Gate’s interoperable interface

22/01/2024 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 22 January, the European Commission launched a public consultation on a delegated regulation it is preparing on the interoperability of the Safety Gate Portal - the new name for the online rapid alert system for dangerous products in the digital age (see EUROPE 13073/2, 13169/35). This delegated regulation will set out the procedures for the application of Regulation (EU) No 2023/988 on general product safety by establishing a technical framework for setting up and operating the interoperable Safety Gate interface for online marketplace providers. The delegated regulation should be adopted in the second quarter and will enable online marketplace providers to link their interfaces to Safety Gate simply, quickly and reliably.
