22/01/24 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 22 January, the European Commission announced that it had approved the inclusion of ‘Bœuf traditionnel de race Normande’ in the Community Register of Traditional Specialities Guaranteed (TSG). ‘Bœuf traditionnel de race Normande’ is meat from a castrated male of the Normande breed. It was born on dairy farms, then reared on livestock farms, thus constituting a complementary workshop that makes it possible to make the most of remote or uncultivable grassland. The farming method is based on a simple, economical technical itinerary that has remained unchanged since the Second World War. The rearing method is based on a castrated male of the Normande breed consuming grass grazed for at least 7 months of the year and conserved grass for the rest of the year. (LC)
